Position Title: Health & Wellness Fitness Assistant (2 positions available)
Department: Office of Student Services
Reports To: Student Center Manager & Director of Student Services
Pay Rate: $7.25 per hour
Hours: 10-15 per week

Position Summary: The Health and Fitness Assistant supports the Student Center Manager in the coordination and implementation of all functions and services of the Wellness, Fitness Center/Programs to students, staff, and faculty.
Essential Functions:
1. Assist in the daily operations of the fitness center and wellness programs
2. Serve as a fitness trainer to conduct health and fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, as well as establish, set, and monitor goals for students, employees and community members that use the fitness center and participate in the Momentum for Ministry program
3. Be available to fitness center participants by offering standard office hours and providing positive customer service
4. Assist student center manager to maintain a variety of group exercise/aerobics classes as needed
5. Assist the student center manager with intramurals to offer a wide variety of sports
6. Organize and promote continuing education workshops involving health & wellness such as health fairs, lunch & learns, etc.
7. Assist the student center manager to construct and update the health & fitness bulletin boards, informative pamphlets, and brochures
8. Assist in the marketing efforts promoting ATS wellness programs
9. Promote community events such as 5k/10k Races, Health Fairs, etc.
10. Clean all equipment and areas within the fitness center including machines, hand weights, mats, balls, flooring, office, mirrors, etc. Keep equipment and all fitness areas neat and organized
11. Maintain clean towel service including the drop-off and pick-up, folding, and collection of used towels to be laundered as well as maintain bottled water service for fitness center participants
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Center Manager or Director of Student Services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:
1. Enrolled in an academic credit program at Asbury Theological Seminary
2. Knowledge and interest in healthy living, health and fitness
3. Confident, dependable, and detail oriented
4. Ability to professionally interact with students, faculty, staff, and general public with competence and courtesy
5. Clear organizational, verbal and written communication skills
6. Basic level of word processing skills and general knowledge of office procedures required
7. Demonstrate competency in the areas of fitness leadership instruction
8. Be able to pursue the appropriate certifications as needed: Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and a personal training certificate by a nationally known organization
9. Must possess a personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle
