After months of ?behind the scenes? preparation, the coalition, ?Friends of Pagosa Skate Pavilion,? is looking forward to presenting their plans for a multi-purpose skating pavilion here in Pagosa Springs to the public.? The facility will operate under 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of Southwest Colorado.
Current plans are to locate the pavilion nestled in the pine trees on Lot F in Harman Park, on Hwy 160 across the street from the Thingamajig Theatre.? Plans include a regulation hockey-size rink, 85 x 200, refrigerated and covered for winter ice activities, then turning the facility into a venue for non-ice-related activities during the summer months.? Planned winter activities will include hockey, figure skating, speed skating, broom ball, adult groups and lessons, mommy or daddy and me classes, and public skating.? Also group or private lessons for hockey and figure skating.
Planned summer activities will include roller skating, roller hockey, broom ball, pickleball, group lessons, and the facility will be available to use for any number of private events.? The facility will be home to our Roller Girls in Pagosa (R.I.P.) for use as a training facility, and hopefully a venue for future league bouts.
This facility will be for all Pagosans, ages 3 to 103, with a range of activities to appeal to all.
On Tuesday, October 9th, at Boss Hogg?s Restaurant, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., we will have an open house in their side room to show pictures of the proposed facility, as well as plans and plot.? You will be able to meet the Board of Directors, and it will be a time to get your questions answered.? Our first official fundraiser is planned for sometime in November.? Fully tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted.? Profits from this facility will be donated to a sports scholarship fund for our Pagosa Springs youth.
Hope to see you there!
