Some Valuable Information About Creative Business Card Designs

Not only businessmen, but also working professionals are having their business cards these days since they can act as the best tool for building a network for growing their trade. When it comes to working professionals, most of the top-rated organizations issue business cards for their staff in suc a way that whenever they go on some business trips for their organization, they can issue their cards to individuals, who are in business contact with them. Not only developed organizations, but also start-up firms need well-designed business cards in such a way that they can be issued whenever they meet new customers or business parties as they can also act as a means of marketing to any organization.

Before any entrepreneur plans to develop one such card for his start-up firm, he will have to understand certain things about them and here are some of the facts to be known about them:

As the first step, it is better to view different designs of cards through the World Wide Web and decide on the model that would be suitable for him. However, as he will come across different designs, it might be difficult for him to arrive at a decision with respect to the design that would be suitable for his firm. In such a situation a professional firm dealing with creative business card designs can offer him with the right kind of guidance in this respect.

Creativity is the main factor in designing the right model and only a professional firm with the right kind of professionals working in this area can enable organizations to create the right kind of attractive card. Most of the people believe that only when they pay higher cost, they will be in a position to get good service. But, the fact is that there are some service providers offering the best service at affordable cost as well and this is true in the case of business card designer as well. So, just the appearance of a card will not make any difference, it is the content that will make the difference (i.e.) it should enable the viewer to get the required information about any organization. For Instance, it should provide the address, contact number, website URL and mail Id of the firm in such a way that if they are in need of any service, they can contact the businessmen.

How To Get Your Ex Back - Follow These Steps

How To Get Your Ex Back - Follow These Steps

When someone breaks up with you, it is a horrible sense of loss. The rejection and overwhelming feelings of hurt and anguish are unmistakable, and in the moment it's incredibly difficult to picture a future that does not include your recent ex. You may not have to. There are ways to put a breakup behind you and give you a fighting chance at getting your ex back for good. It's not an easy process, but if you move carefully you may just wind up in a healthier and long-lasting relationship that right now seems impossibly out of reach.

Step 1: Avoid the Initial Armageddon:

As tempting as the option of pitching a fit and putting up a fight of epic proportions to try and keep your breakup from happening, it's the last thing you want to do if you want another chance with your now-ex. The more you push at this particular moment, the more you'll end up pushing them away - not drawing them closer in for a second chance. While World War III may seem mere moments away, it's in your best interest to keep it at bay and keep control over your emotions. Feel free to lose it as soon as you're out of sight/earshot - but don't let your ex see your moment of weakness, and don't let them believe that you're desperate, weak or powerless.

Even though a breakup was the absolute last thing you wanted, it is imperative that you come to terms with the reality that it happened. You're not going to be able to change it by simply wishing it into oblivion. In order to get a second chance, you need to be aware that your initial reactions will have a lasting impact - and you need to keep those underlying negative emotions in check.

Step 2: Don't Put Yourself in Your Ex's Path Intentionally:

If you and your ex run in the same social circles, it may be easy to run into each other - whether you intend to or not. Your ex uses this opportunity to their advantage. They know what you're up to and they know how you're doing. They don't have to wonder if you're okay. They don't have to spend time worrying about you moving on. They don't have to imagine you with someone else, since they pretty much know what's going on in your world. Limiting this contact, therefore, can be a benefit to your side, while inhibiting theirs.

When they're no longer able to assess the situation easily, their confidence is going to start to waver. They viewed your hurt as a sign that you genuinely loved and cared for them - otherwise you wouldn't be so upset. It may sound twisted, but they're not doing it intentionally. More than likely they're not even aware that it's happening. By making your ex wonder about you, however, you've planted the seed of doubt without having to take any drastic or dramatic measures at all. If your ex wants an update, they'll have to reach out - and that means a more direct method of contact that can lead to more over time.

Step 3: Take The Time to Undergo a Makeover:

Everyone can use a makeover after a breakup, but this isn't a makeover of only physical aspects. You want to focus on a full-scope assessment of yourself, and the key to this process is going to be honesty. If you can fool yourself into avoiding potentially hurtful realizations, they will never be addressed and you will significantly limit your potential for growth. If you can bite the bullet, however, and make the commitment to be honest with yourself, you may be astounded at what you discover - and what the overall end result can be.

If you can remind your ex of the time when the two of you first started dating, when everything was new and beautiful and easy, it is also possible for them to reconnect with the feelings they used to have for you. Those feelings are a powerful motivator to reconnect and they can take an already-existing curiosity to the next level. The self-improvement process may not be an easy one. It requires a lot of hard work, and some potentially hurtful realizations. Dealing with these issues now, while you have the time and the opportunity to do something about it is much easier than trying to work on them on the fly without having a specific plan of action in place.

Step 4: Don't Pursue Them - Make them Pursue You Instead

Pursuing an ex that has ended your relationship is an almost inevitable instinct immediately following your breakup. Ideally, however, you want your ex to want to reestablish a relationship and that requires some additional patience, perseverance and dedication.

If you've stuck to your guns and avoided contacting your ex post-breakup, chances are good that they're already making an initial effort. They may send you a text out of the blue or even call you. Don't give up too soon and respond to their efforts. In order to maximize their curiosity, you need to keep them waiting - at least for a little while longer. Then they can really start to miss you and turning their attention back on you where it belongs.

It's nearly impossible to revamp a relationship if you go in blindly. Coming up with a workable and positive plan before you begin, you're ensured to keep your cool and keep the various pieces of your puzzle moving - even if it feels like you're standing still.

What To Do Next

Being dumped is never easy, but you can turn things around and win your ex back if you follow the correct techniques and exert some willpower. A good idea now would be to look at why you were dumped. If you can understand the real reasons why you were dumped then it will help you in the long run because it will give you an insight into how your ex was feeling about you and your future.

UK sex abuse victim apologizes to Thatcher party treasurer

LONDON (Reuters) - A child rape victim apologised on Friday to an ally of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher who had been falsely identified on the Internet as his abuser, after days of furious speculation of a high-level paedophile ring in Britain.

Steven Messham, who had told the BBC he had been repeatedly sexually abused as a child in social care by a leading political figure in the late 1970s, said former Conservative Party treasurer Lord Alistair McAlpine was not among his attackers.

McAlpine, who served as party treasurer from 1975 to 1990, had earlier been forced to deny a flood of Internet allegations, saying he had been wrongly named in a "media frenzy" as the mystery paedophile.

From the BBC to the police and the National Health Service, some of Britain's most venerated institutions have grappled with claims they failed to protect children from Jimmy Savile, a former BBC presenter who was unveiled as a prolific child sex offender in October.

A November 2 report by the BBC's flagship "Newsnight" show about child abuse involving an unidentified Conservative Party figure, and claims by a lawmaker about a paedophile ring with links to a former prime minister's aide, propelled the scandal firmly into political circles.

Prime Minister David Cameron commissioned an investigation after the BBC report, and a host of Conservative Party figures - including McAlpine - were named on Internet and social media sites as paedophiles whose alleged crimes had been covered up.

"I want to offer my sincere and humble apologies to him and his family," Messham said in a statement reported by British media.

"After seeing a picture in the past hour of the individual concerned, this is not the person I identified by photograph presented to me by the police in the early 1990s, who told me the man in the photograph was Lord McAlpine."

LEGAL ACTION

McAlpine, who said he was in poor health, said he had sympathy for Messham's plight. His lawyers said they would take "legal action against all media who have defamed Lord McAlpine's reputation and published defamatory statements".

Messham's disclosure is another embarrassment for the BBC which is already facing awkward questions over why Newsnight had axed an expose of Savile shortly after his death last year.

Newsnight did not respond to a Reuters request for comment. Messham's lawyer said it was unclear whether the abuse victim still thought a high level political figure had abused him.

Allegations linking the scandal to the Conservatives could be damaging to Cameron's party - which rules in an uneasy coalition with centrists - and tarnish the image of the era of Margaret Thatcher, prime minister from 1979 to 1990.

Cameron has warned that speculation about the identity of alleged abusers could become a "witch-hunt" of homosexuals.

"I have heard all sorts of names bandied around and what then tends to happen is, of course, that everyone then sits around and speculates about people, some of whom are alive, some of whom are dead," Cameron said during an interview on Thursday.

During the ITV television interview, Cameron was passed a piece of paper with the names of people identified on the Internet as being alleged child abusers. Some of the names were visible to viewers.

"There is a danger, if we are not careful, that this could turn into a sort of witch-hunt, particularly against people who are gay," Cameron said.

At least 10 inquiries have been been ordered amid allegations of cover-ups at the BBC, the police and at senior levels of public life, including one into widescale assaults at children's care homes in North Wales where Messham was abused.

A major police investigation is also under way into claims by hundreds of victims that Savile and accomplices abused them. Detectives have questioned former glam rocker Gary Glitter and comedian Freddie Starr. Both men have been released on bail.

Tips Crucial Steps to End an Emotional Affair for Good | | The ...

Posted by admin on Rating 9.0 ?Outstanding

Are you struggling with emotional affair recovery? Does your wayward spouse need to know how to end emotional affair?

If your trust has been shattered by emotional infidelity, you?re probably wondering how your spouse can ever earn it back?
This article is specifically about the actions that the wayward wife needs to take in order to completely sever the extramarital relationship and undeniably show you, the faithful husband, that you?re her first priority.

How to End Your Wife?s Emotional Affair in 6 Steps

None of these steps are optional. If your unfaithful wife cannot do these things for you, then something is wrong and emotional affair recovery is out of the picture.

At the same time, if you really want your marriage to move forward then you need a threshold over which you say ?okay, I believe you and I love you, let?s move on?. In other words, your wife needs to prove to you that she?s done with the emotional affair, but you also need to know how to forgive an emotional affair.

Are we on the same page? Remember, these steps are for your wife, not for you.

Great! Let?s get started:

Step 1. She Must Accept Responsibility, Even if Marriage Wasn?t Perfect

The most common excuse for an emotional affair is ?you never pay attention to me?. Conversely, the most common reason that women give for falling in love with another man is ?he paid attention to me and he ?gets? me?.

However, an unhealthy marriage is NOT an excuse to cheat. Furthermore, an emotional affair will CREATE distance in your marriage.

In other words, it?s no coincidence that your spouse suddenly seem inattentive when there is another man being very attentive. It is literally impossible to have a healthy marriage while one spouse is in love with someone else.

If your marriage was so bad that your wife felt completely unloved and rejected, that is not a problem to solve through an affair. Instead, as with any problems in marriage, you bring it out into the open and address it for what it really is.

Your wife must admit that she was having an emotional affair, she must accept responsibility for it, and she should show remorse for what she?s done to you.

Step 2. Sever the Relationship? Period

Once your wife has taken responsibility for her infidelity, the next step to end an emotional affair is a complete severance of the extramarital relationship.

It doesn?t matter if it?s an old high school friend she?s had for 20 years that only recently turned into something more, or a coworker that she?s only known for six months? The relationship is over.

Period.

If your wife is unwilling to let go of the relationship, or if she wants to remain friends with the other man, then that is an unacceptable problem. If a ?friend? is more important than recovering your marriage, then what is that supposed to tell you as the husband? It means she doesn?t really want to end the emotional affair.

Your wife must be willing to sever the relationship completely if she is serious about ending the emotional affair. The next 2 steps will address how to do that.

Step 3. The No Contact Letter

A No Contact Letter is exactly what it sounds like? A hand written statement (important!) from your wife to the other man that the relationship is over.

This letter shouldn?t be emotionally charged. It is a simple, firm statement that the relationship is over, that it will not begin again, that it has had an adverse effect on her relationship with you, and that her marriage is now her top priority.

This step is very important both for you and for your wife. It should give you peace of mind that your wife is willing to do this, and it gives your wife the peace of mind and security that comes with letting go. Ideally, the No Contact Letter is the nail in the coffin of the emotional affair.

Step 4. Physically Get Away

Naturally, to permanently end an emotional affair, your wife needs to physically get away from the other man.

This could be as drastic as your whole family moving to the other side of town, or as simple as de-friending him on Facebook and deleting his number. It could mean that your wife needs to change positions at her job, or get a new job entirely. You might need to find a different church or a different group of friends.

It doesn?t matter; she MUST cut him out of her life completely. Whatever it takes is consequence of the emotional affair.

There are two reasons that this is so important: One, it will be very difficult for her to get over the emotional affair if she continues to be exposed to him, and two, it will be nigh impossible for you to rebuild trust with your wife when you know she?s still occasionally spending time with him.

Step 5. Accept Transparency (and Don?t Lie About it)

Your wife needs to accept that you will require full transparency for the next few weeks to the next few months.

This means a few things. You need to be able to?

  • Access her e-mail account
  • Access her Facebook account
  • Read through her text messages
  • Listen in on phone conversations
  • Monitor her whereabouts throughout the day

In situations where your wife has lied to you before, you may even require cell phone tracking to monitor her calls, text messages, and whereabouts. Or you might require computer key logging to monitor what she?s doing online and who she?s talking to.

Drastic? Yes.

Necessary? Yes.

Although not everybody needs to go to the full extent (i.e. cell phone and computer tracking).

Step 6. Consider Marriage Counseling (Optional)

It?s no secret that I do not like marriage counseling. Far too many couples rely on marriage counseling as the default medicine for marriage problems.

Let me be clear: marriage counseling is only a good idea when?

  • Both spouses truly desire a better marriage, but have a singular problem that is difficult to resolve.
  • There is infidelity involved and you need a safe-place to say exactly what?s on your mind and work through your trust issues.
  • There are psychological problems inhibiting your marriage, such as bipolar disorder or anxiety. In this case, independent counseling is usually a better place to start.

So, if you are really struggling to get over the trust issues you have with your wife, marriage counseling may be a good place to address those. Independent counseling may also be helpful.

Congratulations! Next Comes Forgiveness?

If you?ve made it this far, go ahead and pat yourself on the back. If your wife has been willing to learn how to end an emotional affair with you, the future of your marriage looks very bright. It means that your wife is genuinely dedicated to renewing your marriage.

Even though learning how to forgive an emotional affair is difficult, I can tell you that every single couple that gets through it finds their marriage better than it?s ever been. That is, IF you can get through the emotional affair recovery.

So, look to the future! There is hope, and you can still find ultimate happiness in your marriage.

I highly recommend you read through the rest of Emotional Affairs 101, especially the article about how to forgive an emotional affair (linked above). Forgiveness and severance are the one-two punch that will save your marriage.

I sincerely hope that you have found this guide on how to end an emotional affair helpful.

With much manly love

The Death Of The ?How To? Article ? socialmouths

The Death of the "How To" Article

This is a guest post by Tommy Walker, host of?Inside The Mind.

The ?How To? article is suffocating the blogosphere.

One look at Google explains why: ?How To? returns nearly 13 BILLION results.

In the past hour Google reports 55,100 results & Twitter shows ?How to? updating at nearly 200 results/minute.

?How to? has saturated the internet.

?How To? with it?s Wal-mart instruction manual voice is sucking the life out of your blog. It restrains your personality by limiting you to ?step by step? and invites conversation only from the clueless and contrarian.

Yes, ?How to? is essential to a blogger?s toolbox, but as a tool, it is misunderstood. ?How to? is most effective as search engine bait for trend spotters and The Established.

If you don?t have a large following and you?re not the first to publish the ?How to?, you?re wasting your time.

In this article, I aim to break you of the mindset that the ?How to? article alone will establish you as an authority or a thought leader.

I want to encourage you to use your voice and find strength in your stories, because that?s what the social web should be all about right?

To break the stranglehold the ?How To? Article has placed on the internet, I?m going to break this up into two sections.

  1. Showing your Personality While Remaining Informative.
  2. Alternatives to the How To Article.

First ? let?s get this out of the way, the ?How to? article is a crutch. ?We use it on days we don?t particularly feel like writing with emotion.

The problem is ? it?s everywhere.

The ?How to? and it?s instructable nature has assimilated a large percentage of the blogosphere into an amorphous blogger borg. ( At least, it?s the only way I rationalize why so many blogs sound exactly the same -but I digress.)

Part 1 ? Showing Your Personality While Remaining Informative.

When a blogger writes a ?how to? article, their intentions are good.

You share the steps so readers can share your sense of accomplishment.

Got a bunch of comments? Write a ?How To.? Learned a new Twitter strategy? Write a ?How To??

But if you?re only sharing steps you lose the context and motivation that -more often than not ? is the reason why anything worked in the first place.

Your readers have the directions, sure, but they?re lacking purpose. They?re missing the why & that ?why? is not always self evident for most people.

For Example: let?s consider ?How to Get More Twitter Followers.? If you have specific goals for growing your own following, this article is a FANTASTIC resource. But even the very first paragraph say

?I?m not going to get into why you might want to get more followers on Twitter, maybe you want to increase your traffic or because it represents more business opportunities? I?ll leave that to you.?

Unfortunately, if you were to ask most people WHY they would want more Twitter followers, you might be met with something like

?

It?s not uncommon, and nobody?s at fault. Just remember that most people are in love with the benefits but don?t understand the process

And 9 times out of 10, the process begins well before ?step 1?

What To Do Instead.

Instead of writing a straight ?How To? ? tell a story.

DIY blogs ? in my opinion ? do this best. Many of them don?t just tell the story about what they?re working on, but give you a real personal look into personalities.

In this ?How to redu outdoor furniture? tutorial, Jaderbomb shares how she gave new life to hand me down furniture. But before she gets into the ?How To? she starts with?

?OK! So I just had to share this with all my jaderbugs because it is so fantastic!!! I totally had this old chair from my mom and this little dingy outdoor table from a friend and they have been ?hidden? for quite some time because they were {not pretty to look at}?.?

Seriously, Who can?t relate to that?

Does this article show up anywhere within the first 10 pages of Google? No ? the top two spots are taken up by a Youtube video and Discovery.com

And let?s be real ? there?s no competing with either of these sites on an SEO front, so Jaderbomb does the next best thing which is being well, human.

Which sounds more exciting? The quote from above or?

?There are so many ways to restore or reclaim old ugly furniture. Whether you have furniture hand me downs that need work, or have found a beat up piece of furniture with good bones in the thrift store, here are some great transformations to inspire you.?

If you picked # 1 it?s because you?re not a robot. Excerpt # 2 uses that borg speak I was talking about earlier.

If you structure a blog post with the ?telling a story like a human being? format, it would look something like this:

  • Presentation of problem
  • tutorial
  • resolution or?
  • failure and what you learned from it

Telling the story with the problem first instantly humanizes the ?How to? and gives your readers something ?they can relate to. It also allows them to appreciate the process and lets you to be imperfect.

If you?re sharing your failures & shortcomings along with your successes, you give your readers someone real to relate to and someone whose story is worth following.

Let?s consider the ?How to get more Twitter followers? example again, but following the storytelling format.

How I got my first 2,000 followers on Twitter.

Early on in my career, I didn?t have any followers on Twitter. I knew that if potential clients were going to take me seriously as a consultant, I would have to have a respectable following of my own.

From my research, I noticed people with 2,000 followers seemed to be taken more seriously, and so my goal was to amass 2k followers in the first 2 months.

You may think this was no easy task, neither did I, but I was shocked when I was able to reach my target within 6 weeks and grow even further and faster than I could have imagined.

This is what I did?

Part 2 ? Alternatives to the How To Article.

So at this point you may be thinking, ?You didn?t really kill the ?How to? you just gave it a different opening.? ? and you would be right.

Like I said in the beginning, the ?How to? article alone isn?t going to make your career.

Infusing your real personality ? anger, elation, sadness, confusion ? and bringing people along for a journey will.

The first half of this article was about infusing your personality and journey to remove the stiffness from the ?How To? article

Part 2 will be about applying that to other (ab)used blog topics so that you ? and your readers ? can develop a deeper relationship while still working towards a business-like goal.

Let?s begin.

Book Reviews

It seems like every ?blog post idea? article you read, somewhere in there they?ll say ?review the book of an author who uses social media, then tweet them the link.?

While this is pretty good advice ? most ?socially active? authors are going to put the most mental stock into their book around launch, because that?s when they see the most sales. So if your review comes out a year (or more) since their last book, (depending on the author) you?ll be hard pressed to get more than a ?gee thanks? for your review.

However, if you start with a problem, your review becomes that much juicier

For example, lets say I?m considering redesigning my website and wanted it to be more modern.

If I were to ask Twitter (or Linkedin Answers, or Quora, or Reddit, or Yahoo Answers etc etc?) what the best books on modern web design philosophy were, I?d be sure to get a slew of answers. Some of them would agree with each other, and others may cause a heated debate.

That being the case, when I wrote the review, I would start the blog post talking about my problem (a site redesign) then tell the story of how I came to the book.

As I write the review, it?s from the perspective of how well the book helped me update my thinking on modern web design.

Doing this gives me a built in audience (the people who recommended the book), an angle to write the review from, and a built in distributer ( I would only publish reviews that speak highly of the original author)

Another way to approach the review is to analyze popular fiction with the angle of solving a problem.

Granted, drawing parallels and weaving in lessons may challenge you as a writer, but imagine not clicking on ?How 50 Shades of Grey helped me design a brand spankin? new website?

Round Ups

Margie Clayman is my favorite at this. At the time of this writing, her most recent is 100 People Who Don?t Get Enough Credit Online. Basically, create a large list and link to people who you think are awesome in a particular area.

Nothing wrong with this on it?s own and these types of posts generally attract a ton of traffic because everyone on the list goes out of their way to share it with their readers, especially if the micro reviews are flattering.

BUT what if? we approached it problem first?

An article like ?Want your website to convert 10,000% better? Hire these 50 web devs.?

This profiles web developers who are strong in a very specific area. ?Use the post to highlight their strengths and tell your readers that they should learn by following the new developer. Be sure to pats the developer on the back for something they clearly put a lot of time and effort into. ?Norcross is skilled in color theory and can intuit the best layouts to guide visitors into lead capture pages?

Hypothetical Posts

These posts are usually fun thought exercises like ?What if Google and Yahoo merged?? or ?What is the future of Marketing??

But what if you did a hypothetical post about someone else?s problem, and how it could potentially become your own?

What if Facebook collapsed? What would that mean for small businesses and bloggers?

What would a day without Google look like?

Using this problem based approach can turns the fun hypothetical angle into a serious and deep thought provoking discussion.

Discussion drives traffic. Traffic means business.

See where I?m going with this?

There are thousands of more angles we could talk about here, but the message remains the same.

Make it personal, make it about real problems and tell a real story. It may seem like we?ve come a long way from the ?How To? article, and that?s because so many problems aren?t always black and white.

?Being an authority? doesn?t mean you have to have all the answers, it?s about finding what works for you and giving the context around why it works.

This article may not work for you, and that?s ok ? your experience may not work for everyone. All you can hope for is to help other people who share your situation.

If you?re not the de facto expert, don?t try to ?fake it till you make it? by writing a ?How to? article like it?s the final word, just start with ?these are untested theories, but I?d love your help to make it work??

At the very least, you?ll be attracting people who are experimental and excited to take risks. Sure beats being secretly blamed when things don?t work right?

Really, this whole online game is a huge work in progress, and we?ve all got something to learn from each other. If you liked where this article is coming from, could you do two things for me?

  1. share this article with someone who you?d see get more personal. and
  2. leave a comment letting me know what other ways your personality could be weaved in (or if you disagree with me, let me know why)

Looking forward to your thoughts ;-)

(AP) ? Fresh from his re-election, President Barack Obama will embark on a trip to Southeast Asia and become the first U.S. president to visit Cambodia as well as the once pariah nation of Myanmar where he will hail the country's shift to democracy after five decades of ruinous military rule.

The White House says Obama will also visit Thailand and attend the East Asia summit and meet leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The trip comes less than two weeks after Obama's re-election. But it also takes the president out of the country just as he begins sensitive negotiations with congressional leaders about how to avoid looming tax increases and steep cuts in defense and domestic spending.

The symbolic highlight of the trip, no doubt, is Obama's visit to Myanmar, also known as Burma, where he will meet with President Thein Sein and with Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi

Obama ended the long-standing U.S. isolation of Myanmar's generals, which has played a part in coaxing them into political reforms that have unfolded with surprising speed in the past year. The U.S. has appointed a full ambassador and suspended sanctions to reward Myanmar for political prisoner releases and Suu Kyi's election to parliament.

In a statement, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Obama intended to "speak to civil society to encourage Burma's ongoing democratic transition."

A procession of senior diplomats and world leaders have traveled to the country, stopping both in the remote, opulent capital city Naypyitaw, built by the former ruling junta, and at Suu Kyi's dilapidated lakeside villa in the main city Yangon, where she spent 15 years under house arrest.

The most senior U.S. official to visit is Hillary Rodham Clinton who last December became the first U.S. secretary of state to travel to Myanmar in 56 years.

The Obama administration regards the political changes in Myanmar as a marquee achievement in its foreign policy, and one that could dilute the influence of China in a country that has a strategic location between South and Southeast Asia, regions of growing economic importance.

But exiled Myanmar activists and human rights groups are likely to criticize an Obama visit as premature, rewarding President Thein Sein before his political and economic reforms have been consolidated. The military is still dominant and implicated in rights abuses. It has failed to prevent vicious outbreaks of communal violence in the west of the country that have left scores dead.

While no U.S. president has ever visited Cambodia or Myanmar, Thailand is one of the America's oldest allies in Asia and has been a stop for American commanders in chief since the mid-1960s, according to the State Department historian's office, which compiles records on presidential travel.

George W. Bush visited Thailand twice while president, in 2003 and 2008, Bill Clinton visited in 1996. During the war in neighboring Vietnam, Richard Nixon travelled there in 1969 and Lyndon Johnson in 1966 and 1967, the records show.
